Abstract
Spirituality in Clinical Practice (SCP) is a quality professional American Psychological Association (APA) journal that is growing exponentially. For example, the number of new submissions each year has more than doubled from 38 submissions in 2018 to 88 submissions in 2023. Our acceptance rate is about 50%, and it has been as low as 30% during 2022. Our 2022 debut impact factor score is 1.7. Our impact score is higher than other well-established similar journals such as Pastoral Psychology, Journal of Psychology and Theology, and Religions. The most frequent journals that cite our publications include the Journal of Religion and Health, Pastoral Psychology, Mental Health Religion and Culture, Religions, and the Journal of Psychology and Theology. Of course, our own journal authors often cite articles published within it. Our many successes and growth have resulted in an increase in pages allotted to the journal from about 280 pages per year published in 2018 to 400 pages per year in 2024. Finally, the number of article from countries across the globe on diverse topics of interest has been expanding a great deal as well. About 20% of our published articles during the past several years have come from countries outside of the United States. The growth of the journal is encouraging and speaks to the global interest in SCP as well as the efforts of all those connected with the journal from APA publishing staff to reviewers, authors, various associate and consulting editors, and readers. The success of the journal is especially remarkable since it has only been in operation for 11 years initiated in 2013 by the visionary founding coeditors, Professors Lisa Miller and Len Sperry, with support, interest, and encouragement by the APA publishing staff.
