Abstract

In this chapter I’ll examine endeavors in both the “psychology of religion” proper and the “psychology and religion movement,” describing the impact of scholarship in Women’s Studies on each. I’ll focus on four psychological methodologies often utilized in the study of religion: Freudian theory, Jungian theory, object relations theory/self psychology, and poststructuralist psychoanalytic theory.
