Abstract
The goal of this article is to present the telecommuting practices of 1he largest employers of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by exploring how telecommuting is used, and its consequences. The purpose of presenting this information is to aid senior management in constructing telecommuting policies in their companies. The survey described in this article was one of the first public surveys on telecommuting practices and potential benefits. While there are many "popular'' articles about telecommuting, there has been very little systematic analysis of what firms do and the benefits and costs of telecommuting.
