Abstract

The second edition of Genocide and Gender in the Twentieth Century includes all but one of the chapters from the first edition. Most of the chapters have been updated, and one was revised so significantly that it reads like a new chapter. The volume also contains four new chapters. Two of the new chapters focus on topics not covered in the first volume: the connections between imperialism and genocide, and the Cambodian genocide. 61 The other two new chapters examine gender and transgenerational trauma and memory in the context of the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust. The volume has undergone some changes since it was first imagined, so there are two fewer chapters on genocide and masculinity than originally planned. This second edition is also being published later than anticipated. The pandemic of Covid-19 that we are living in, and other personal and professional reasons, played a role in these changes.
