Abstract

Declining literacy rates, sociopolitical turmoil, and rapidly evolving technologies threaten to uproot the foundations of human subjectivity and creativity as we know them. More specifically, with the rise of social media and AI-generated content, the latent power of the algorithmic spectacle over the human imagination threatens to subsume and commodify every aspect of human life. The need for such a design space to help people exercise more intellectual rigor towards general concepts and values has never been greater. Complexify! seeks to implement this design space through the development of an autodidactic application, which prompts the user to commit themselves to a philosophical text on a timely basis and ensures reading comprehension through efficient and exhaustive examination. I hope to create a space where individuals can train themselves to think critically about fundamental questions of philosophy under a self-curated framework and defend their sovereignty against the world at large.
