Abstract
The US-101 and I-880 interchange in San Jose is heavily congested by vehicles going to and from their destinations. As population increases, there is an increasing need for a redesign of the existing interchange. The project looked to solve this problem by analyzing traffic flow and adding different connections between the freeways. The existing cloverleaves do not allow adequate speed to keep congestion down to a minimum. By creating connections that allow for faster speeds, the density of traffic will decrease creating less congestion. The four level stack flyovers chosen in this project allowed for that increase in speed.
