Abstract

Green Roof Filtration and Storage systems offer a possible solution to the detrimental issues of water shutoffs in Puerto Rico due to lacking water supply. In our project, historical climate data was analyzed to design the optimal green roof design for a selected example location. From cost estimation, reliability comparisons, and feasibility analysis, it was determined that an extensive green roof only has situational applicability as an effective solution, and in some situations a simple rainwater collection system would be preferred.
