Abstract
Students and faculty at Santa Clara University and ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico have continuously worked with low income communities to develop structural bamboo connections. Past students have conducted research and testing with structural bamboo culm end to end connections using materials such as twine and metal straps. Dr. Nayar, a civil engineering professor at ITESO University, expressed a need for T-joint connections that can be used in a roof truss. This project begins the research and development of a 3D printed prototype for this joint which will be sent to ITESO University for further experimentation and development.
