Abstract
The podcast features the history of UNITY Movements at SCU. Beginning with a student-led movement in 1985, followed by two others in 1991 and 1999, the podcast ends with reflections on the latest movement in 2015 that was sparked by a racist anti-Black social media post by unknown students on-campus. What has unfolded over iterations of these moments, culminates with recurring calls for action and institutional change at SCu that necessitate a concerted critical reflexivity, community conversation, and institutional action on how to best support BIPOC students’ needs. A key topic of discussion featured in the podcast is the value and significance of increasing the diversity core requirement from one course to two courses, along with the possibilities for diversity, equity and inclusion at SCU.
