Abstract
With a vision to alleviate energy poverty, improve the lives of marginal farmers, and combat climate change, Oorja Development Solutions (Oorja) provides renewable energy for irrigation, cooling, and agro-processing to farmers in last-mile communities. Since male farmers are more represented in this sector, males have experienced the impacts of Oorja’s services more extensively than their female counterparts. Therefore, as women in many regions of India continue taking on managerial roles within the agriculture industry, infrastructure will need to be put in place to facilitate their success throughout both agriculture and society as a whole. It is now a priority for Oorja to focus its efforts on female beneficiaries and bring them in as active users.
