Abstract
An asymptotic membrane theory for thin, heat-conducting, finitely-deforming elastic films is presented. Constitutive equations for the stress and heat flux are obtained from their three-dimensional antecedents and applied to the study of isotropic films that exhibit entropic elasticity. The model is illustrated by solving coupled axisymmetric boundary-value problems for the deformation and temperature fields.
