Description

Georgia College is located in Milledgeville, a “Knight City.” Knight Cities, the locations where John S. and James L. Knight once published newspapers, are eligible for community funding opportunities through their charitable foundation, something that Milledgeville and Georgia College have taken advantage of several times. This poster will discuss the work of two academic librarians who partnered with the local public library to provide two Knight Foundation-funded community research programs, the Milledgeville Democracy Lab and The Year of Voting Dangerously, highlighting details of the projects’ implementation and discussing the community and civic engagement implications of each of the projects.
